Criteria & Guidelines for Submitting Work

Dance Studio Alliance NYC presents our latest initiative - our Artist Spotlight 2025

​

Please review the below information carefully before submitting your work. Submissions will be taken from 12/2/2024 - 1/2/2025.

Eligibility & Requirements:

​

  • Dance performance groups from all cultures and of all genres are welcome to submit work.

  • Performers must be 18 or older. Exemptions to the age requirement may be provided on a case by case basis.

  • Submission Period: All submissions must be provide between 12/2/2024 - 1/2/2025 

  • Piece cannot be longer than 8 minutes. Only one piece shall be submitted into the weekend's showcases.

  • All participants must submit this APPLICATION FORMIf you require assistance in doing due to accessibility needs, language assistance or another reason, please email us at dancestudioalliancenyc@gmail.com to arrange assistance. Hard copies are available at PMT House of Dance, Bridge for Dance and other participating studios.

  • Pieces must be able to fit inside of our performances spaces, PMT House of Dance's performance space is approximately 23x25' and Arts on Site is 20x20'. A group's ability to safely perform in this size space will be considered as part of the evaluation process.

  • Dance companies of member organizations are not eligible to apply. 

  • Groups looking to submit work must have an operating budget below $500k in gross receipts.

  • Must be available to tech and perform on either 3/1 or 3/2, depending on their show assignment. Exact schedule TBD. 

  • You may submit tap, Flamenco, clogging or percussive dance pieces but please note that only Arts on Site's space can house it due to space restrictions at PMT. The tap floor is 12'x18'. 

  • Student Submissions are not eligible.

 

What you receive:

​

  • Opportunity to perform in a weekend festival of shows among peers and special guests.

  • Free video and photography of the performances.

​

How it works:

​

  • All dance pieces submitted will be evaluated by a panel of diverse volunteers from participating member organizations, all with years of experience in the industry.

  • Dance pieces submitted must be at least 1/3 complete. The submission must be what the applicant is performing/presenting.

  • All dances submitted shall be evaluate at once at the end of the submission period. 

  • Dance submitted will be placed accordingly artist criteria with diversity/representation goals met. Each show will showcase a variety of genres from artists of different backgrounds as a principle of this endeavor.

  • Those who are submitted work will be contacted no later than 1/13/2025.
